COCOA and Indieview host Food and Film Festival in Lagos
COCOA collaborates with Lagos film community on INDIEVIEW Food and Film Festival
If you’re tuned into Lagos’s indie film scene, you’ve likely heard of Indieview. Known for curating screenings of cult classics and foreign indie cinema, Indieview provides a rare platform in Nigeria for films that might otherwise never make it to local theaters. They’ve also become a vibrant hub for young Nigerian filmmakers to showcase their shorts and indie features, bringing new voices to the fore.
When we learned they were gearing up for another short film festival, we knew we had to get involved. We partnered with Indieview to infuse the festival with fresh energy—complete with food, drinks, and live entertainment to create a lively and welcoming atmosphere. To keep things relaxed and festive, we set up an open-air screening at the lush BICS garden in Lekki Phase One, with a stunning view of the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge in the background.
Festival-goers enjoyed a cozy photo backdrop, delicious food and drink options, and plenty of space to mingle with other film lovers before the screenings began. As night fell, the audience settled in, captivated by the creative worlds brought to life on screen by the extraordinary filmmakers we had the pleasure of featuring. Our lineup included Gbese by Adesola Oni, Boo’d Up by Gold Gerry, Green: The Amazons by Oluchi Mary Nsofor, Kill the Impostor by Adeniyi Joseph (TAJ), and BODMAS Short Film, Encores & Fireworks by Orobosa Ikponmwen.
The evening transformed into a celebration of storytelling, filled with discovery, laughter, and connection—an unforgettable night on the Lagos indie film calendar.
